"Cork" for Denis Wick Tuba Practice Mute?

Hi,
I have the Denis Wick practice mute, but I find that the "cork" (whick looks like thin weather stripping)
...is too narrow to seal any of my tubas (even the Rudy 4/4 F tuba, and the Miraphone 184!).
I bought some weather stripping with the idea of placing it beneath the crown of the mute,
...thinking that it would allow the mute to accomodate a greater variety of bell sizes.
What do you guys think of this "fix"?
If your opinion is not too favorable, my question is: where can you get the "official" weather stripping stuff for DW mutes?
