case for a very old tuba

I am the proud owner of a bell facing front three valve "King" tuba made by the HN.White company of Cleveland, Ohio in 1937. I have used a gig bag for as long as I have owned the horn which is now 34 years. I would like a hard case for this tuba as it and I are now approaching a more fragile stage of our lives. Does this esteemed jury have any suggestions for where I might find such a thing or failing that any recommendations as to where one could be built.? I have little to no mechanical aptitude at all so please do not factor that into your answer!
Thank you for your anticipated help with this. :tuba:

Is it a fixed bell horn? I always thought those looked so cool!

Yes, it is a fixed bell. The horn had a dusty silver body and a gold wash bell when I bought it many years ago. Shortly after I bought it I had the horn nickel plated entirely and it remains like that to this day. I would love if money ever permitted to have Dan Oberloh overhaul the horn and then have a satin finish applied to the body and a gold wash returned to the bell. I can only dream!

Sounds like it's time for a picture! :D

A hard case for that horn will be very difficult to find. I searched for a couple of years for one for my King 1235 Eb fixed recording bell horn. The case made a couple of trips to Europe and went with the horn when I sold it.

I don't think there are any cases still in production to fit that horn. But... you could have one custom-made. Fair warning though... that's a fairly heavy horn and you can expect the case to weigh AT LEAST the same. I think I would be tempted to stick with the bag and just schlep it around on one of those folding luggage carts.

Thank you to everyone who participated in my question and answer segment. I believe that the best answer goes to Dan with his common sense approach. I am still strong enough to push a cart so I'll leave it at that for now. I'll need to put sleigh runners on it for the winter!
