From left: Jim Laisure, a.k.a. "big1096" (Alexander 163 CC), Patrick FitzGerald, principal (Meinl-Weston Thor CC) and me (Alexander BBb).

The air-conditioning in the hall had quit working so we ditched our suit jackets. But it was still a very good concert!

Of the 6 low brass players in the Lancaster British Brass Band (4 tubas and 2 euphs) 5 of us are from the neighboring county of Berks and are teachers including 2 elementary/intermediate school, one high school, one retired, and one college. Also another BBb player who often plays with us is from Berks!

Liberty Classic 2018 Tuba Section. First pic is with Colonel Gabriel:
DSCF0666s.JPG
And here's the artillery shot. Upon seeing nine tubas, the Colonel remarked that the section looked like an armored squadron:
DSCF0668s.JPG
From left: Mark Kerestes (King 1241 BBb), me (Alex) Charlie Holmes (Alexander 163 BBb), Kit Chan (Miraphone 186 BBb), Chuck Neidhardt (Miraphone 1291 BBb), Jim Caneen, principal (Miraphone 186 BBb), Weena Walton (Miraphone 186 BBb), Ron Berry (Meinl-Weston 2145 CC), and Bill Kear (Yamaha Eb).

And Ron now knows the difference between bi-radial and exponential tubas, as discussed in this thread (see the linked Rick Denney article):

Excellent concert- hope to see you all next time! :tuba:
