One more.. this one's just a bit silly

Ithaca College's School of Music has an... event.... know as 'FordFest' (our main auditorium is Ford Hall) It occurs on the last day of classes before winter break. The centerpiece of the day is long variety show type concert that has skits, funny ensembles (bassoon choir, viola ensemble etc) and It always ends with the Wind Ensemble playing Sleigh Ride. While most of the ensemble is as it would be normally, often the low brass section gets.. enhanced.

so this is the Fordfest Low Brass dream team section of the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble 2008

alcohol is in no way present at Fordfest.. ever

No never. The vodka and Sprite that someone handed me was medicine for my cold. :) Is the wind ensemble still playing Sleigh Ride every year @ Fordfest?

The best Tuba Quartet promo poster. Ever. This group was a finalist at the 2006 ITEC in Denver and the newest version (still with the Heinsen/Bloomer combo) will be competing in Tucson this summer. Go Dawgs!!!

Poster was done by the incomparable Josh Cutchin.

Steve, good to see you on here!

Still on the LMI then? Was Dean as well, I know he got one.

Hi Andy,

the instrument in the photo was actually built by Paul Downes (late of LMI) to my spec and was to be put into production along with the BBb, so it is, infact a 'one-off'. Both instruments were as good as it gets - especially my EEb which is lusted over by all who have tried it!.

The BBb was probably the best 3+1 'British' style BBb that I have ever played - I know you have one and hope you agree.

Sadly the tubas will never get into production due to the ravages of recession! - a great shame.

Deano played a BBb from his Brisbane band (probably didn't want to risk his own on the airline) - the instrument arrived in Cayman six days after him - just in time for him to play the final concert! - Quantas, I think.

Yes, the LMI BBb is great for band use. Still prefer my Imperial for smaller stuff, but then that's me. I think Paul did mine too, yours was being done around exactly the same time.
Ryan Breen (Tubalate) has just had one built as well, and he's very happy with it. Although technically a Besson artist I think!!

Tuba sections are influential. Just think of 16-by-9!
