11 AM - Cedar Creek Community Band (off the stage by 11:45)

1 PM - Cumberland County Community Band (off the stage by 1:45)

2 PM - Vanderbilt Community Band (off the stage by 2:45)

3 PM - Bartlett Community Concert Band (off the stage by 3:45)

4 PM - Midsouth Community Band (off the stage by 4:45)

5 PM - East Tennessee Concert Band (off the stage by 5:45)

Please enlighten us: is there any criteria for repertoire selection? As in slow, fast, march, overture, etc., requirements?

I don't think so. I think it's whatever you feel best demonstrates your ensemble.

Here is the rep for Vandy. Not quite as impressive as what Steve's group is doing (those guys at ETCB are really top notch for a community band) but should be fun:

5 Bagatelles (J. Joseph Laird) - great piece, fairly new. Fun but not crazy hard, would be great for the average H.S. band that does not obsess over "Grade Six Only" music. We will just do #'s 1,4,5 at the concert.
Ye Banks and Braes O' Bonnie Doon (Grainger)
Epinicion (John Paulson) - aleatoric piece, I am not fond of lots of them, but this is a good one. Plus there is a tuba solo in it.
Folk Dances (Shostakovitch)
Cheerio March (Goldman)

One of our tuba friends (a retired music prof) is on a mission trip in Mexico, so it is just myself and one other tuba player (a law student at Vandy.) I will have the Conn Giant Eb (hopefully won't drop too many notes, still getting Eb under my fingers after not having owned one for 20 years) and the other fellow has a new 187.

Thanks for the props, Marty! We really do have some good players in the band.

Unfortunately, I'm having to make a game-time decision on the performance. I'm fighting a pitched and desperate battle against an onrushing flu bug.

For some reason, this is becoming a normal thing around holidays and religious dates. I played a church gig last Thanksgiving with serious pneumonia. Christmas I had a cold. Now this 2 days before the Palm Sunday doings...people at the church are going to start seating me on the other side of the stage.

Steve, hope you get to feeling better. I look forward to hearing you put the bottom on that excellent ensemble tomorrow with the big Kali.
On the other hand, if you are toooo out of it, maybe we could swap gigbags before the trip home and you wouldn't notice!

Totally bummed. I'm just not feeling good enough to make the drive over to Nashville and back. If the concert were here in K-town, I could probably make my way through it. But I can't justify all that driving when I can barely keep my eyes open. I slept 12 hours last night and 14 hours the night before, and I'm still exhausted.
