Amazing and informative! Thanks!

Only tiny comment would be that the London Musical Instruments (LMI) ‘baritone’ really is an Eb alto horn. It takes up a recent trend, which should have been applied ages ago: the main tuning slide trigger.

Thanks for your great photo work, 2165! We had a good visit at the booth. You're a fine player, indeed.

Oops! Gotta run to the booth!

GREAT photos! Do you take requests? I'd love to see some good shots that show detail in the Lätzsch bass trumpet and rotary valve compensating euphonium.

That are some great pictures 2165 !
The Messe is the closest to tuba heaven we will ever get...

For your information, the bass trumpet shown is from Peter Baumann in Hohenaschau : http://www.blechblasinstrumente.de/
Very much attention to detail indeed !

Did you try the willson 3100 RZ-4 rotary BBb ?
(mine should arrive next week I hope)

I shared your opinion on the Rudy Bayreuth when I visited the Messe 3 years ago.
Impressive craftsmanship.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for the label corrections and picture format advice. It was brought to my attention that those of you using dial-up connections could have potential browser problems because of the number and size of the photos. I will sit down later and make a second version of the posting with only links to the photos.

To bbocaner: I'm sorry, but Lätszch was not at the Messe this year:(
I remember 2 years ago taking pictures of those instruments, but unfortunately, I can't find them..I will ask some friends who were with me, and if something turns up, I'll post it here for you.
Perhaps contact him through his website: http://www.laetzsch-brass.de" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

To Adam Peck: I think the Rudolph Meinl piston F is not being "mass produced" at the moment, but I don't know for sure. It's probably best to contact Rudolph Meinl or Lee Stofer.

To Wim: I did try the Wilson 3100 RZ-4 rotary BBb and i think you will enjoy your new horn!

Some of those designs are a little....different. But, what's wrong with a little style on the details?

That Thein french horn looks wild! Six rotors... Must be a triple horn...

Thanks again for the pics. Makes me want to attend next year...

Was the "KFC" trumpet's texture just extra metal added on for weight, or something else?

Hey, is it me or is there a brochure under the Chinese 1291 CC copy that shows a picture of a 6/4 on the right? Just wondering...

That's a good eye. I went back and checked out the picture. I even tried blowing it up so that perhaps I could read what it said, but it was too pixelated. It is tough to tell if that is a different horn or a larger picture of the same horn. It's tough to tell at that angle the true dimensions of the horns in the pictures.

I've been interested in what the Chinese will be cloning soon (even though I have been debating back in forth in my head about the quality of such), and heard that there will be a 1291 CC copy out. But, I don't think the above picture is a copy of the horn. When zoomed in much more closely, the tag on the horn says Bb (could be a mistake, though). Also, the first valve slide dips down like the one on a King 2341 (?). In fact, I think the horn pictured here is this horn:

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

Hi Joseph,

haha! guilty as charged! I posted the wrong pic. The 1291 CC clone was behind the "king BBb" copy and I forgot to snap it. Yes, there was an ad mentioning 6/4 and 5/4 models, but no one I spoke to seemed to know anything about it.
I was disconcerned by the "Made in Germany" and "Made in USA" stenciled on the bells of obviously Chinese made instruments...
ciao
