very nice set of pics! The coiled design on that thein F tuba's slides makes it seem like they're spring loaded.

I'd love to own one of those Kanstul EEbs (and probably convert it the way people convert the big york tubas they're based on :P )

I know these have been discussed ad nauseum on the boards, but did you have a chance to play any of these Chinese copies?

I would be very curious about the King 2341 copy. I haven't even seen that on the market yet.

Thanks.

If you're referring to this horn-
http://tubamm.com/site/big/TU2000.htm

It plays very nicely, though I'm not sure it is really a 2341 clone.

YAAAAYYY!!! Thanks for the re-post - I just had a ball.

exBrass = best F tuba ever? Looks nice - what did you like about it?

The Thein ferules/slide tubes are an old technique and it makes for a gorgeous instrument!

Thanks for these pics!

This tuba is based on the Hirsbrunner knock-off body. It's the Chinese attempt at what was called in the US an "HB 21."
How? The valve block (and key) is completely different.

Joseph "confused"

Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the late reply.
Hope this answers your questions!

To Bob, the 5 valve Tübchen was an excellent horn. Easy to play with a very unique sound and character! Somewhat of a cross between a rotary F tuba and a cimbasso...
The Cerveny Cimbasso had a HUGE sound for a cimbasso, but I wish I could have tried a smaller mouthpiece on it or at least had more than 20min play time.

To Liberty Mo, I tried every tuba I photographed (except for the Rudolph Meinl piston BBb and the Haag Cimbasso) including all the Chinese horns..
Most of the Chinese tubas seemed generally put together OK. The 191 BBb/ 1291 CC Miraphone and 2341 King copies were heavier than the originals, but otherwise played alright for me although they do have a certain "industrial" feel. I didn't think much of them engraving "made in Germany" on the bell.

To mctsang, aiyo! Sorry lah, too many Stephen Chow films...無厘頭...

To Bob again, Joseph, and LJV...it was a King 2341 clone..not a perfect clone, but very "inspired by"

To J.c.Sherman, the exBrass F tuba was for me, a fantastic instrument. It had all the character of a custom handmade instrument, but with impeccable intonation and response. I hope someday I will have the funds to buy one..

ciao!

Hello!
What did you think of 2250 MW?
Their sound is more like a YFB 822 or the German?
It is an instrument worth?
Grateful!
