Well.... sort of. It's probably a mellophone.

I think it's a mellophone. They're french horn shaped but made with piston valves and operated with the right hand.

I tend to be with the mellophone suggestion. However I never knew mellophones were that common in trad bands. And I looked after a true carrier of the bass line. I have heard about bass saxes being used, but not about baritone saxes.

As for polar bears being dangerous: there is some real pinha in the kolada today.

Yup I knew they were used in jazz and as trumpet doubles in touring musical shows. Here is an obvious carrier of the bass line. That was what I missed with the Polar Bear Band.
