Dvorak 9...performed alternate part!

Hello all,
Got some great news for tuba-land... I convinced one of my conductors to let me play Ryker's alternate part to New World last weekend, and everyone loved it!! The horns & basses, especially...guys in both sections recently performed it with another orchestra, and they said they really enjoyed/preferred the alternate tuba part!!

I tastefully cut-out a couple things that seemed unnecessary, and it seemed to work very well! Conductor gave me smiles & never asked me to cut anything out I wanted to play. The Ryker part floating around here has some extra measures in it &, like I mentioned, just a few unnecessary things...I'll try to post my "edition" of this part on here later...jobey

That would be very interesting - what worked and what did not? Did you play it on bass, or contrabass tuba?

I am hoping to play that arrangement with my orchestra at some stage. I am pretty sure my "pro-tuba" conductor (who wrote me part for Beethoven 9) would be happy for me to play

I played the Ryker part in an orchestra rehearsal last year on CC, and the conductor was very pleased.

I'll be performing the part with another orchestra this summer; the conductor has already given his approval.

Sounds as though Jobey has a part that is further edited from the one that I have, which I received several years ago. So I'd appreciate a copy of the latest edition as well.

Once when the bass trombone player didn't show up I played that in concert. Alternate part, indeed.
