David-call-me-bordogni-guy-Schwartz here. After two years editing I just got my new piano scores back from the printer.
Practicing and performing the 43 Bel Canto Studies for Tuba or Bass Trombone will be more fun with Bordogni's own teacher accompaniments. These simple accompaniments were written to keep Bordogni's operatic students in time and on pitch, and they do it very well.
My two new folios include a tuba-range bass clef solo staff that shows Bordogni's own notation, with his phrasing, respiration, dynamic, and articulation guidance. The phrases are sometimes surprisingly long and the tempo indications sometimes faster than Rochut or Roberts show. Each study also shows Chester Roberts' revised tempo recommendation; Mr. Roberts is a Massachusetts neighbor. He gave me his new tempo markings last year, and they are intended as his recommendations for unaccompanied practice. Each book includes a table of study numbers, keys, and tempi that cross reference the Bordogni-Schwartz, Rochut, and Roberts books.
Bordogni for Tuba consists of Folio #1 for studies #1 to #22 (66 pages) and Folio #2 for studies #23 to #43 (67 pages). The folios are printed on 9-inch by 12-inch paper and are priced at $22 each. These piano scores are very much like my piano scores published in 2009 entitled Accompaniments for Rochut.
Please help underwrite my Bordogni habit. Please buy my books. The books will be on sale at ITEC in Tucson this month and ITF in Austin in July. Or you can order them from me or a dealer today - see my website.
