Hi I was wondering can anyone name tubas that are like the Alan Baer Meinl Weston tuba but way cheaper?

Sound close to the OP’s request.

A bunch of pros on tubenet say if you can find a good 2165 that they are wonderful instruments, but watch out for the bad ones.

Play it first.

How do you define way cheaper?

I agree with the 2165 idea. Find a great one and/or modify the heck out of one.

There's Matt Walter's new model that has gotten some hype. Around $12k (cheap enough?), but I haven't played one and don't know if it sounds or feels like a 6450.

Or, wait for the inevitable Chinese copy to come out.

According to a recent posting of yours this tuba apparently was played by an oboist.
