I have the opportunity to purchase a Sanders CC Tuba from someone that I know. I have seen pictures of this tuba only and it has a few dings but nothing major that would affect the playing. Since I am a college student I was considering starting at $1000 plus whatever the shipping might be. . Anyone know any thing about Sanders tubas. I figured that I would ask around on here before I went further. I've been told that they paid $2200 on it almost 2 years ago. Any ideas suggestions... thanks for any help that I can get.

Sanders was the house brand of Custom Music Company for many years. For much of that time, they were made by Cerveny in Czechoslovakia (later the Czech Republic), and are quite decent instruments, especially for the money. One could, for example, get a Cerveny Piggy in C with the Sanders label. But even in the old days, they were also made in Asia.

If it was new two years ago, it's almost certainly Chinese. The Chinese are learning to make tubas, and they are learning fast. But there's no way to know where this instrument falls on that learning curve without playing it, or without getting a trusted pro to try it out for you.
