I am looking for a concert band arrangement of Prelude to Act 3, Lohengrin by Wagner. Can anyone point me to where to obtain the music?
Thanks

Our community band has an old "military band" arrangement by Frank Winterbottom that's pretty good and includes the "Bridal Chorus." It's published by Hawkes and Sons (now Boosey & Hawkes?) but I'm not sure where you might find it available for purchase now.

Is that one taken down a major second (to F) like with the arrangement for brass band?

Don't have a line on the arrangement... but my wife HATES it. She plays third clarinet.

Too little for her to do?

Yes, indeed. It was recorded by the Eastman Wind Ensemble on their "Ballet for Band" album.

Repeated eighth note ad nauseum.

Our community band has an arrangement by George Drumm published by Carl Fisher (copyright 1937, probably out of print). It's in Ab and ends with the the first phrase of the Bridal Chorus.
Edit: Sheetmusicplus.com shows a couple arrangements for concert band that are currently available.

Shouldn’t those rather be triplets?
Make her think percussive clarinet.

Taking the original up a semitone was the old style of arranging. Known also from the old France of Sax, who had the Saxhorn soprano being a flugelhorn in Eb. Sousa had Eb cornet in his older, Civil War style, march scores.
The point likely being that wind bands were less bright than orchestras, which should be compensated by a higher key in the arrangements.

Try the Chatfield, MN, band lending library; I'd bet they have it.

bloke "It seems to me that a band arrangement (with all of those woodwinds hammering 8th notes...struggling to maintain tempo - and all of those trombones/baritones/horns playing the theme) would tend to be very 'heavy'."
As I remember the brass band version of Rakoczy March is in Bb minor/major, where the original is in A minor/major. Several more flats, but a semitone up.
The brass band version of the Lohengrin act 3 prelude is taken down from G to F, where the bass triad theme sits immensely well in the low Bb brasses.
As for the string triplet tremolos: has it been tried to let subsections of the upper winds do staggered omissions of notes: 12-, -23, or 1-3? Takes lots of rhythmic awareness, but it is less demanding on tongue movement.

The group that Sloan and I play for (Celebration Winds) uses a great arrangement of it for our concert opener. I'll have to check with our conductor to to find out the publication. May be one of the ones that has already been mentioned.
