Got a chance to sit in with my tuba with a fine blue grass band for their after concert jam on the porch at Pirate's Cove Bar and marina.
I faced their upright bass player so I could watch his hands to get the bass rhythm and chord changes. I played softly and carefully at first so as not to step on the fine bass man. After mirroring his lines for a while, I realized My recording bell was boresighted on him and, between songs, rotated it to face the audience.
They kept throwing me solos and I started to have mucho fun with these guys. When they started ordering Stoli vodka shooters for me I had to cut it short because booze kicks my butt.

I play for a picken group .I just lay down some fat cream puff notes, Just under the strings, never tring to over power them just a good sound right under them.. Its lots of fun the other Player like my playing. The people enjoy hearing seeing a sousaphone. Your head can get waped in the songs, if you lose your place you look at the guitar player top finger you can see what notes they are playing and your right back in ..Its mostly G,D,C, F, A, E, ..I now know what shape the guitar player friger are for those notes, I don't know what strings he is on, I just know shape of the hand... lots of fun for a Old sousaphone player... Thanks Harv.
