I have just got Elgar Black Knight come up for concert later in the year. It is not one I have as much as heard of before.

I know it is for choir and orchestra and includes a tuba, but can anyone tell me more about the piece, and/or the tuba part?

one could infer that this is a well-known and oft-performed piece.

And I thought I knew Elgar.

I'll be looking forward to a full report on its performance though, because I had never heard of it until your post.

The IMSLP-Petrucci library has the vocal score with piano reduction but no orchestra score. There are commercial recordings. Amazon UK has an mp3 download available. Listening to the samples it seems like a fairly meaty part. You could probably make a fairly accurate part by following the recording and piano score. I didn't go so far as to look for available of a printed orchestra score.

I am guessing being Elgar it might be tricky - will try to get to early rehearsal and get hold of part in time to practice.

Manfred was fun with the only problem being understanding what the conductor was doing in a couple places
