For anyone interested, I will be playing Britten's War Requiem in Carnegie Hall thursday(11/11) 8pm. I will be playing a new Miraphone 1291 in the Orchestra of St. Luke's and a huge chorus. Come check out how this horn projects.

Piston or rotary? Assuming CC. I don't know if they project any differently or not. Not that I can be there, but curious.

Well --- I have heard that

there is a development project underway at Miraphone to build and test a rotary valve version of the 1291 CC tuba. At this time it is a bit out on their schedule as they are bringing in the new F tuba, the Firebird 281, in the Spring and the Norwegian Star Eb around the same time.
I expect the usual incredible workmanship and creative development that Miraphone has demonstrated time and time again to be very evident in this trial project.
Have a great one!

Oooooooooooooh...........
Will the firebird be a classic?
Will it be technologically advanced?
Will it have 'wicked' fast response?
How will it handle?
At least somone will pick this line up since GM decided to drop it.
