Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for quartet music specifically for a four tuba quartet - no euphs.
Anyone have any that I can buy, or recommend somewhere I can buy some?
Thanks!
Mike Milnarik

Apart from the "Mirafone Tuba Quartet" I cannot recall that instrumentation working extremely well. Are you planning to use two bass tubas and two contrabasses? It gets tricky when all of the instruments in a quartet have the same tone color.
If tuba-euph/trombone 4 stuff won't work... look at trumpet quartets. They usually encompass a narrower pitch range and might work VERY well for an all tuba group. Hickeys has tons of these. Horn quartets might work well, too... but will stretch the top guys a bit. I love the "Fripperies" by Lowell Shaw. Check the Paxman site for horn quartets.
I will be interested to learn what works out for this group. Please keep us posted.

Hi,
I have several available for 4 Tubas performed by the London Tuba Quartet (4 Tubas).
Please email for a list.

I think 4 Tubas work brilliantly!
Best wishes,

I just spent a year playing in a four-tuba group with three of my graduate students. Things we played that worked with this group included:
Poker Chips--Jim Self
Quartet for Tubas--Frank Lynn Payne
Moondance--John Stevens
Diversions--John Stevens
I've also done Stevens' "Music 4 Tubas" and "Power" with four-tuba groups in the past, and read through some of the Melton Quartet arrangements. I don't know what kind of group you have, but none of these are easy--most of them stretch the first tuba player pretty high, and some stretch the second player as well. If you're looking for something easier, David Uber's Suite for Four Bass tubas is pretty accessible.
Poker Chips is available through Jim Self's website; the rest I found on Sheet Music Plus or Hickeys.com. The Melton quartet arrangements are published by Bruno Uetz. I was unable to find the Payne for sale online--it may be out of print, unfortunately.
I hope this helps!

I have "Serenade" by William Presser for 4 tubas. I also arranged Gabrieli's Canzona per sonare No. 2 that I recorded on my solo CD for 4 tubas. I took a look on Robert King's website (
http://www.rkingmusic.com" target="_blank) and there seems to be a small collection of music for 4 tubas. But how much of that is 2 Euphs & 2 Tubas vs. 4 tubas, I do not know.
Best of Luck!

Uhmm. Regarding the trumpet stuff, We have tried the cornet duet stuff in the Arban, and most of them don't sound very good. Reasonable exercises, mind you, but, in our hands, not very listenable.
