Anyone know where this excerpt is from?

It's for my college Audition at UA. The first excerpt is marked from Bordogni, but the second one isn't marked at all. Looks (and sounds) like an orchestral excerpt. Any answer would help a lot in understanding the music!

It's a good day for that question. . . that's 1812 - Tchaikovsky

Practice it to death. This excerpt is seriously loud, and notoriously easy to split notes. It would also be a very good idea to get the full orchestral part and work on the rest. Lots of heavy lifting for tuba, and endurance is a factor.

Especially given that the most frequent performances of this are on an outdoor stage, in hot and humid weather, and about, oh, two days from now.

Several years ago, I played a band arrangement by (sp?) Mayhew Lake that I recall thinking was very difficult. Is this the one you're talking about?

Thank you, all, for your input. Though this won't be an outside audition, that's a nice nugget of information to have. I am ready to study this thing!

The Lake transcription is pretty much the "war horse" band arrangement of 1812, and does indeed contain all of the 16th note runs from the string bass part.
