True story: A band mate of mine was a NJ State Trooper, working an expressway from Atlantic City to Philadelphia. He was a drummer at the time, but spotted a tuba laying in the middle of the 3-lane highway as he was patrolling. He managed to avoid getting killed by oncoming traffic long enough to rescue the tuba, tossing it in the trunk. He was intrigued by it, to the point of teaching himself to play it in addition to the drums. It was kind of battered and a no-name at that, but it plays well enough for his purposes.

I failed to mention in the first post... no this isn't my tuba, I just stumbled upon the link.
Stop PMing me and telling me I'm an idiot for letting a tuba fall out of a truck; as it wasn't me.

OK, I'll bite; you're an idiot for letting a tuba fall out of someone else's truck...
(although seriously, if the tuba's OK after that, I'd just want the case, you can keep the tuba!)

You don't need to avoid running over a viola.

You don't need to avoid running over a viola.
You actually swerve to hit the viola.

How do you keep the bugs away in speedy runs?
What about algae growth during long notes?

Insert rant about people's astonishingly bad manners here. Wow. Why would anyone do that?

It's easier to make fun than to research that he lives in St. Paul and the tuba was missing in Milwaukee.

And now we know why the chicken crossed the road - to take a peek inside the big case on the other side.
Disappointed he only found a big ole tuba inside.
- as the chicken was really hoping to find a Peck Horn!
