Try the Loud LM-3 mouthpiece with a C-4 rim. It tends to be a bit darker, for me, than the other commercial mpc's with that inner rim diameter.

Slow down your air stream and open your mouth a bit more. As Warren Deck used to say to me, "Play as if you have a hot potato in your mouth." It creates a larger resonating chamber.

I've recommended the "Blokepiece" Symphony model with the #2 rim to a number of people and all have been happy with that mouthpiece. I use it on my 1291 BBb and the horn won't go "hot" with that mouthpiece.

Just my thoughts.

ditto Roger on the Blokepiece symphony - also had good results with Mike Finns 3H , and one of Doug Elliott's deeper cupped mouthpieces on my 186....
