I just recently purchased an AKAI 25 MIDI keyboard and thought I'd share my impressions. Overall, it is an excellent value. It is compact enough to easily slip into a backpack yet built fairly sturdy. This is a fairly basic item, with an arpeggiator, sustain, and octave keys. The keys feel true to a keyboard, unlike the KORG Nanokey (not impressed with that gadget). I've been using it with Logic Express software and it works flawlessly.
If you need a simple, basic MIDI keyboard to hammer out something on some keys, you can't go wrong with this unit. The price is right too (I paid $69 plus shipping).

Re: AKAI 25 MIDI controller
Thanks for your thoughts, Ryan. I'm looking to get a 25-key controller for school and the Akai and Korg are the two on my mind.
