Schubert - Der Tod und das Mädchen

A recent TN request for chamber music for 3 trombones and tuba had my ears working.
A long time favourite Schubert Lied started sounding. Only when I found the music and started setting it for low brasses, 4 parts wouldn’t do it. There needed to be five.
From my working with old music I prefer playing from scores. And I have had my ensemble students playing from scores whenever possible. The index entry from my free download project (Yahoo-based) says:
Franz Schubert Opus 7 - 3: Der Tod und das Mädchen (the Lied version) in a 5 part setting for low strings, low woodwinds, and/or low brasses in various clefs and transpositions (orchestra and band notations) - 4’ versions for Flute Choir (SSSAB) and for recorders (ATTBGb):

The 4 top parts will work for trombones or euphoniums. The two lower parts will work for tubas. So there is some flexibility built into the setting. There is a compatible version for French horns as well as compatible versions for Bb and Eb brasses reading treble clef.
The solos are in the 2nd and in the 4th part. They may be difficult to get prominently sounding, but that doesn’t matter too much as the main message is Schubert’s beautiful chorale like chord sequences. One may say this Lied fits with the tradition of Equali also represented by Beethoven.
