Spencer Brown, 18 year old graduate of Oak Park/River Forest HS, will begin his college studies at Colburn College of the Performing Arts this fall. I heard him this morning on "Introductions", a program featuring young musicians of high calibre on WFMT radio. Supoosedly, you can listen to this broadcast here:

On the program, Spencer played works by Ewazen, Penderecki, and a new piece by Liu (sp?). His teachers include my former teacher, Richard Armandi. Nice work Richard. There is some great tuba playing here.

Please pardon me for being a 'proud papa'. It's a truly wonderful performance that I hope you'll check out.

Best,

Rich Armandi

I was fortunate enough to hear Spencer play at Illinois' All-State last winter (come to think of it, in 2009, too.) Great orchestral excerpts!

Impressive! WFMT has a formidable reputation in the music world, so if they featured Stephen, that's quite a tribute.
