Hi Fellow TubeNetters.

This was one of the greatest meeting of the minds in the history of brass instruments with most of the greatest players in attendance. The master classes were spectacular - and they were recorded.

Anyone know where I (and others I'm sure) could purchase the cassette tapes from this conference? I'd give my left n.....well, a lot to be able to get my hands on these.

Let me know and post any information here so others can get in on it.

The company that recorded sessions at the Second International Brass Congress in 1984 was Audio Village, in Bloomington. Perhaps they recorded in 1973, as well. I am not sure. I am very pleased to have many of the 1984 recordings-- including clinics by John Fletcher, Arnold Jacobs, and Rich Matteson.

I Finally heard back from the IU Library and they have everything. There are 72 reels of tape from the masterclasses and performances that were given that week. Here's what I received:

I would suggest that you contact Carole E. Nowicke at IU. She is a research librarian there (School of Health) http://info.hper.indiana.edu/sb/page/normal/791.html" target="_blank will find her.

She used to be a regular contributor here, being a tubist and would likely be able to assist in the digitisation work. Brian Fredricksen or somebody might then be able to help in getting it to a saleable state. With the involvement of say, the Harvey Phillips Foundation, this could possible be produced as a fine compendium of study material for tubists for years to come. It might only need somebody to get the project rolling.
