I just found a video about "ultrasonic" cleaning of a tuba. I have no idea what this is all about. Anyone know? The video is about as exciting as watching the grass grow.

I'm no repairman, I think the idea is to just vibrate the water really really fast to dislodge all of the "stuff" inside the horn, instead of using harsh chemicals to dissolve it. Kind of like how a kidney stone can be pulverized ultrasonically without the need for surgery. My guess is that the tuba in the other video either wasn't very dirty, or hadn't been in the tank long enough, or...

My main tuba is in the shop waiting to be ultrasonically cleaned and serviced. New spit corks/pads, slide rings and piston felts come standard with the cleaning along with greasing the slides and oiling the valves. Also getting my bell smoothed out with some dent work. I am shelling out some good money for this, so I hope the horn will look and play to it's optimum level
