3 views from 3 different samples of the YBB-641 represented in my galleries (out of 5 samples)..

Hardly the type of brace you want.

But then the brace between the lower 4th valve branch and the upper main tuning slide receiver seen on the lowest (and apparently oldest sample) illustrates the style of brace you want.

There are no side views available for this model. Looking through almost 5900 index entries (25.000+ photos) without any specific goal is not inviting.

One possible inroad might exist for you as a dealer/repairman:

I know that repair shops can get diagrams of Yamaha instruments split into spare parts with specific part numbers. Maybe such diagram can be found on the web by somebody mastering the art of the right Google search words (that is not me being that smart).

That brace is indeed a removable lap brace. I think that Yamaha uses a smaller screw for that brace and the brace attached to the lower leg of the outer tube for the main tuning slide.

Joe... I've MADE replacements for those detachable braces before by bending brass strips into two small 'L' shapes. A thru hole in one and a tapped hole in the other combined with a small screw of your choice will get the job done.

Joe,

Do you already have this link for parts?

YBB-641(2)-(post 1987)

That was the link I couldn’t find! Great!

I attach partial screen dump of the first of two pages. The said brace has #49 and as part #49-1 is brace screw, I strongly assume bloke has a supply for the part needed.

You probably already found this, but if you need the parts breakdown for the older YBB-641, it's here:

YBB-641 '76-'87

But... I don't see the same part that Klaus pointed out
.

There are scroll bars to the right. I made the screen dump after scrolling down page 1 (of 2).

I know that but the part (49-1) is different... or maybe it's just a different angle.

It's part number 49-1, 49-2, and 49-3.

It would appear that some parts have been discontinued though according to my screen capture but, this link was from the catalogue for the 76-87 model. Looking at the diagram for the current production horn doesn't give as clear an image but the part listed is 49 and 49-1 and looks like the same basic item in that diagram.

Good luck!

Maybe you guys have already figured all this out and moved on but here's the current model diagram just in case.
