Both the University of Miami and Tennessee Tech have tuba ensembles that have been around for a lot longer than 20 years. John Olah and Winston Morris, the current directors of those respective ensembles, are both great guys and very knowledgeable on the history of the tuba ensembles at their schools. Also Connie Weldon, the founder of the University of Miami tuba ensemble, is retired and enjoying life in North Carolina. She has a vast knowledge of tuba ensemble history and would be an ideal person to talk to. Both Connie and Winston did a presentation on the history of the tuba ensemble at the 2002 ITEC in North Carolina. I attended that presentation and it was wonderful.

The Atlantic Tuba Quartet (Gary Buttery et al.) released at least one LP in the 1970's. They begot the US Coast Guard Tuba Quartet and, as "civilians," begot Alchemy.

I play in a band which has been in existance for nearly 20 years. Aside from the director and myself I can think of no other member today who was with us from the beginning. Is this the same band? School ensembles usually have a complete turnover of players every 4 years. The name remains but is it the same ensemble?
