Anyone know what the tuba part is like for Glazunov Symphony No.4? Being Russian, I am guessing one to play on contrabass tuba?

Played it 2 years ago. I don't remember anything to striking in the tuba part. Yes, as is customary, it is a contrabass part (however, I played it on CC instead of the russian proclure BBb)

This piece will be the bane of the string players in your group. Tons of flats everywhere and it makes the piece very difficult to pull off. So much so there is an alternate version written in sharps (and we thought brass players playing in sharp keys were whiney!).

Yes, a contrabass tuba would be the right choice. Not a very difficult tuba part. I don't remember it going above the staff and I think the lowest note is an F.
