I just received a tuba stand yesterday that I bought online through Music 123. I have attached a picture of my 1946-47 Conn Bb recording bass nestled in the stand. My instrument is slightly wider than the stand, as you can see by how the support arms are bent out to accommodate it. Given that Music 123 has a 45 day, money back return policy (I pay for shipping the stand back if dissatisfied with it), do people here think that I should return this stand and get something else, and if so, which stand should I get, and why? Or is this stand likely to hold up and last for a while? My tuba has a large diameter recording bell and it seems like the support legs are slightly too narrow to stop it from tipping over. I left the tuba in the stand overnight, without incident.
All feedback would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I can't tell for sure, but I think that is a euphonium stand, not a tuba stand. Unless you horn is a LOT bigger. A better photo of the smaller side of the stand with the horn in it would help me tell.

It looks to me like a Jupiter stand, which I've only seen advertised as a tuba/euph stand. Does Jupiter make a tuba-specific stand?

FWIW, IMO, the Jupiter stand is an ISSO (instrument stand shaped object). I made the mistake of buying one for my euph several years ago, and retired it almost immediately in favor of a K&M stand. Again, IMO, the arms of the Jupiter are barely long enough to hold a euph securely, much less a tuba; and the steel is very soft: the legs flexed visibly when I placed or removed my euph from it.

If that is a Conn 2xJ then a K&M Kaiser stand is definitely the one to get as LJV says. That is the only one I know of made for 6/4 size tubas.

The standard K&M tuba stand is the best for a smaller tuba (up to 5/4)

Thanks. That is exactly the stand I intend to get. I am in discussions with Music 123 to return the stand that I bought-postage on me, of course-and then apply the $$$ towards the K & M. It might take 4-6 weeks to get, but I have been leaning my tuba against a wall for over a year, so what's a couple more weeks?

With Conn 2xJ (or 3xJ) recording bell tubas, I rotate the bell towards the body wraps and re-tighten the bell screws when leaving one on a stand. That keeps the center of gravity more centered over the stand base.
