What's in your rehearsal folder?

Post by MileMarkerZero »

At the moment, my community band has the following in our folders:

Pique Dame - Von Suppe
March from Symphonic Metamorphosis - Hindemith
Finale from Symphony #3 - Barnes
Firefly - George
Battle of the Winds - Duble
Brazil: Ceremony, Song, and Harmony - Smith
Big Bands In Concert - arr. Lowden
Finale from Horn Concerto - Strauss
Dance of the Bohemians - Tchaikovsky
Circus Bee - Filmore
Nessun Dorma - Puccini arr. Patterson
Stars and Stripes Forever - Sousa*
America The Beautiful - Dragon*
West Side Story - Bernstein
Concertpiece #2 for 2 Clarinets - Mendelssohn
The Dragoons of Villars - Maillart
The Liberty Bell - Sousa*
American Salute - Gould*
Italian in Algiers - Rossini
Bugler's Holiday - Anderson
Death and Transfiguration - Strauss arr. Harding
Scherezade, 4th mvmt. - Rimsky-Korsakov arr. Hindsley
Tennessee Waltz - Stewart/King arr. Wallace*

Plus several other pieces of schlock, mostly patriotic stuff for outdoor summer concerts

*These pieces are "just in case" pieces that we always try to keep under our fingers

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.
