I'm looking for some fun funky music for our tuba/ euphonium ensemble. What have you guys played that has been different and fun? I'm really open to all suggestions. My instructor told us that he wanted to do something different from Washington Post, Russian Sailor's Dance and Amazing Grace sort of stuff. I'm sure that he has some ideas but I thought that I would see what you guys could throw out there too.

When I was in high school, I transcribed "When I'm 64" and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" by The Beatles for my tuba/euph ensemble. It's not funk, but it's fun and different.

"Pop Suite" by Frackenpohl. You'd have to transpose some parts, as it's scored for brass quintet, but it sounds fun to play.

Frackenpohl did a series of pieces called pop suite. The piece featured on the mp3 can be found here....

It's fun to play...... Definitely worth risking $11.95 on!
