The Hirsbrunner is 10 times better.....its like the Aston Martin of tubas...
Fast, luxurious, and you are guaranteed to get girls!

Okay I'll try and be more helpful.

I own a Yorkbrunner and have played a 6450 quite extensively.
They are both very very good horns.

There is some intonation issues, however it doesnt take long to get used to it. The character of sound that these instruments produce makes any intonation issues seem minor...I find most "every note is in tune" tubas to have a very dull, one size fits all sound.
The best thing is to try them both, and also try a Nirschl 6/4 while your at it. I think they are all relatively closely priced.

Does anyone actually know what is going on at Hirsbrunner....I was told last week they are only producing the odd euphonium at the moment...

Model characteristics described were attempted to be delivered as matter-of-fact. Pitch issues are what they are, and seem to be just about equally present on both models listed in the topic heading. I am not advocating. No tuba in this price range should, ( at least imo), be purchased mail order. I believe anything of this scope should be inspected in-person or - if with a credit card and shipped - with a trial/return option.
As I understood it, Hirsbrunner is still making tuba's.
