Sonata in F- Marcello

Does anybody know where to find the alternate version of this piece? Micheal Lind and Alessandro Fossi both played the same version so I'm assuming somewhere out there is the sheet music for it. IF you could help out that'd be great, hoping to do this for my college senior recital!!!

This is the link to listen to the version I'm talking about, mainly the the allegro and allegro molto have been changed:

Thanks!

What I did was transcribe it from Micheal Lind's recording. Good ear training exercise.

This sounds like the arrangement by John Glenesk Mortimer that's published by Marc Reift. There might be some additional octave differences in the YouTube performance, but I'm not sure. It's relatively easy to find--I know Hickey's has it. Hope that helps.

Hey man thanks! I found it on hickeys, any idea if there's a recording of that somewhere so I know that it IS the same version? I contacted Allesandro and he said it was a Don Little arrangement. So I've contacted Don Little on facebook and will see where that leads. Thanks for all the help!

Unless the Little arrangement has been updated since I bought it in 1991, it's not the same as what Lind recorded.

Yes. The Don Little arrangement is different from the Lind recording in many ways. I prefer the LInd version, but that doesn't mean I play it any better--the Little arrangement is easier if a bit less tubaistic. I don't have the written version of the Lind--I just played it the way I heard it when going that way.

Lind recorded his version on the BIS label back at least in the 70's and maybe earlier. That is currently available as BIS-CD-95, which is mostly solo trombone music by Christer Torge.

On Michael Lind's recording (1977) the Marcello is marked "Editio Musica".

Based on this thread, I went and bought the Mortimer arrangement. Just to save some of you the money, it's nothing like Lind's recording. I have began to transcribe it myself because I too like the Lind version the best. Although I hope the piano part in the Little arrangement works because that's also different on the recording. I will not be transcribing the piano part.

Don't forget a continuo instrument!

While meant slightly tongue-in-cheek, it makes a big difference in the performance product of Baroque transcriptions scored with continuo. I like Contrabassoon, but bass works well too.

Just an observation - I gotta find that Lind recording!

I believe Allen Ostrander (former bass trombone, NY Phil) did a number of Marcello arrangements. I have performed at least one of them and was pleased with the arrangement (down an octave in spots.)
