I would appreciate any and all recommendations for repertoire for a project scheduled for next [2011] Christmas.
Our symphonic brass ensemble [5-5-5-2-2-+ perc] has been asked to travel to the Baltimore area for a program of organ, chorus and brass ensemble. They suggested Pinkham's "Gloria", but after investigation, I find that that is scored 2-trumpet and 2 trombone [or 1-trombone, 1- f horn]. I need a piece utilizing the full brass, but it must be doable by the choir composed of 2-3 local churches with decent music program, with or without organ. If you have ideas, let me know and I will investigate whether they are playable or not and acceptable for Protestant churches at Christmas. I really welcome any ideas!

Re: Recommendations?
I'm not much help, but let us know when/where you're playing when the time gets closer. That's my hometown, and I always make it back around Christmas.

Re: Recommendations?
I personally would love to hear a brass/chorus/organ arrangement of Janáček's Glagolitic Mass. Obviously it is not in English and I am not sure what your chorus is willing to take on. Just reduce the orchestra down to brass ensemble, leave the chorus and organ parts (or add some organ parts) as they are and you are done.
Otherwise I would be looking at other chorus and orchestra music that could be similarly arranged, but I think it is important to find out what your chorus is up for.
