Hi I was just wondering what would you guys and girls use the Travel tuba for? Solo, ensemble, symphony bass tuba parts or anything else? I am thinking of getting one for easy transportation and for solo and ensembles. Is this a good Idea can it take the place of a regular F tuba?

I'm sure it's fun and all, but not practical for very much. I've heard that Alan Baer has used it in place of a cimbasso before, and there's a video of someone else (whose name escapes me right now) using it with an orchestra. Unless you are the next Alan Baer (or similar), I think the money is better spent on something else.
If you want a more portable F tuba, check out the small Yamaha or the small Cerveny F tubas.

Really the whole point of the travel tuba is that it's of a size to be transportable by airline as cabin luggage, but really only worth getting if you regularly have that requirement.
Otherwise the MW 182 is probably a better buy if you just want a small, easy transportable F tuba. It can do all the things you want.
I am considering getting a 14 Travel Tuba because I have Chinese wife and expect to spend a couple months a year travelling in China. If I do, will report here how I find it.
