While not exactly what you are looking for, my only comment is that if you buy a Conn, install nylon valve-guides. You will then have a fun-to-play, CLANK-FREE horn.

Not sure when the TMEA was TX, however, I purchased the 995 2 months ago with Walter's latest upgrades and tweaks. This horn is unbelievable. I've owned HBs, MW, and Alexs and this Besson/Nirschl compares to the best.

No intonation problems, very open and "very" responsive, especially in the low register. Of course, it's more comfortable to play compared to the Yorkbrunner/Deck 6/4.

The magic key, however, is the mouthpiece. I've solved that.

Roger Lewis turned me on to this horn...he dug it as well.

If I'm not mistaken, Jay Bertolet has a few students that also have the horn.

I used it the other night on Mahler 2...my students thought I was using my Yorkbrunner.

Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a Nirschl.

Everyone knows that I love the Miraphone 1291. That being said, there is a warm place in my heart for the Besson also. This is an extremely well designed instrument with Mr. Nirschls talents well applied troughout. It has a sound that is very pretty and plays wide open through the range. The mouthpiece sensitivity issues have been solved and the horn plays GREAT. It is also a very inexpensive instrument compared to many of the top models available. This instrument falls under the rules that stores are not allowed to show their true selling price on, so you need to call to get the price on them. On this horn you will be pleasantly surprised.

Do you care to share any of the changes that were made recently? (Are you allowed to? )I loved the sound and response of the old Marzan horns (well, specifically the rotary), and Patrick Sheridan told me that this horn plays like that and better.
