Wonder if anyone has considered having a tuba and Euphonium Conference on a cruise ship?

The hardest part is getting the horns on board. The second is the mass concert. When we had a Tuba Christmas at the Mall of America several years back (about 300 tubas strong), they stopped the concert 3/4 the way through because they were afraid we were going to crack the foundation. (We were not invited back). I would hope there isn't an issue with cracking a cruise ship............

We wouldn't crack the ship unless Dan brought his Conn Grand Souses. Guess the Grand Conns would make good flotation devices for 20 or 30 people in case of an emergency.

This idea reminds me of a news story I read a few years ago. Seems a German couple booked a romantic cruise to celebrate an anniversary. The cruise ship company neglected to tell them that most of the ship had been booked for a convention of Swiss yodelers. The couple won a substantial cash settlement for the physical and emotional distress of being forced to listen to ten days or so of yodeling at all hours of the day and night.
I can only imagine the horror of a similar scenario with tubas substituted for yodelers.

As the cruise ship leaves the dock the tubas and euphoniums can gather on the fantail and play "Anchors Away!"

I really am not kidding about the Mall of America story. We had a lot of tubas that day. It was glorious. Everyone knows that it is not Christmas until the Tubas play......

They thought that the
sound would crack the foundation?
If that was their reason, then I am amazed!

To be clear, it was the sound that had the owners of the mall nervous. I don't think they had any idea what a few hundred tubas can sound like when they are enthusiastic.

If worse comes to worse, we tubas could do as the orchestra on the titanic-------play on deck as ship goes down----Maybe "Them Bases".

Just think how fast the time would pass on that Carnival ship off San Diago with various Tuba and Euphonium concerts going on 24/7. I too like a little adventure in my life-----Let's Roll.

I was watching some "cruise chat" about the Carnival Cruise disaster--------It turns out that as the ship was loading and getting ready for departure, longshoremen droped 30 people's lugage into the ocean------They were issued bathrobes to wear. Along with the later disaster, that trip was a loser. If there was an ITEC gig on board-----that could have been 30 tubas into the waves.
