Hi everyone,
Does anyone have the tuba parts for john williams movie scores. I have a gig coming up that is to include star wars, et, jaws etc etc and I don't have any of the parts. I can't get the music from the organisers before hand and I'd really like to do some preparation as I'm playing on new equipment. Not sure of exactly what's in the programme, but it is a 2 hour gig devoted to williams. Any help would be great. My e mail is craiganderson@aol.com" target="_blank

There are numerous orchestral arrangements of John Williams' movie music, including some by John Williams. All are copyrighted. Without knowing whcih arrangements you are playing it would be difficult to help. Most have good and usually challenging tuba parts. I have noticed that on some arrangments by Williams, there will be sections where the tuba is playing above the bass trombone. This might throw you at first, but it is intentional and an interesting effect.

I recently did a Halloween concert that included the "Imperial March" from Star Wars. While the tuba part isn't all that difficult, be ready for the triple tonguing (or fast single tonguing) around B and G below the staff.

Take your "big tuba" and be prepared to play loud, low, highly articulated passages.

I've played quite a few of the standard williams rep but as this is a gig devoted entirely to his movie scores I know ANYTHING can come up. I'm also aware that there are multiple arrangements. The thought was that anyone who had ANY copy parts may be kind enough to share.
