Hello all,
I'm looking for a smaller helleberg mouthpiece (similar to the Laskey F series) that has more mass than say a Laskey 28F. If you know of a heavier original conn helleberg style mouthpiece let me know. I don't really know heavy mouthpieces very well and can use your help.

The whole idea for the R&S Heavy Hellebergs came about from wrapping a Schilke Helleberg II with duct tape - about two layers. Accoustically this should not have done anything, according to the scientists - but it made quite a difference.

Try this with the mouthpiece you like and see what is does. You can always take it off.

If one wraps a mouthpiece with some golfer's lead tape, will galvanic reaction/corrosion be an issue (notwithstanding the potential for ingesting lead)?

Here's what I do: I wrapped a circle of golfer's lead around the throat of my Kelly 18. It solidified intonation and dynamic range. I tried a narrow strip under the rim at the top of the cup. All that did was to slow down the response of the mouthpiece and make it harder to blow.

Before a person purchases a "heavy" version of a mouthpiece, whether the Laskey, Jet-tone, PT or Bach "mega," etc., I would suggest going to a golf supply store and getting a small roll of swingweight lead tape and experiment. I did, and it saved me $$$ on getting a "heavy" mouthpiece.
