Valve oil makes great lubricant for electric razors.

I once used it to remove freshly dried spray paint from a teacher friend's car.

On the flip side... lamp oil makes good valve oil.

Once at church we had homemade communion wafers that tasted for all the world like valve oil had been used to make them. Two of my children are also brass players, and all three of us recognized the taste immediately.

one thing i like about rotary valves is i hardly ever have to use valve oil

Recently used rotary linkage oil on bicycle chain - worked just fine

Noisy doors when in a pinch. Used Herman rotor oil on hinges today and it got the job done.

I used to work at a well known music shop and we had a 18" box fan on the sales floor that started squeaking REALLY bad one day. One of the store managers grabbed some slide-o-mix and put a drop or 2 on the spindle of the fan blade. The fan was silent from that point on.

I have used rotor oil on squeaky hinges before, WD-40 is probably cheaper though...
