HI all,

last week I recorded with my new Tuono some of the most important orchestral excerpts for contrabass tuba, the acoustic of the room is dry so you cannot really hear the sound quality of this tuba but I hope this video can be helpful anyway.

Enjoy

Alessandro-

The tuba, and more importantly you, sound great.

Any specs on the horn with regards to bell size or bore?

Wonder if anyone knows what the price will be, or when the tuba will be made availible?

Here is an article I wrote about the Tuono, you can find also the suggested price (without discount)

the bell is 48 cm (18,89 inchs) the bore is the same as the Fafner, I think first half of 2011 the Tuono will available on the market.

Beautiful sounds, Alessandro! You really do make that tuba yours!

By the way, are the trombone players in your orchestra jealous of the new horn? Haha

My comment is that although very well played, there seems to be some core to the sound that is lacking. There isn't enough growl or focus to the sound for my ear.

Dear Luke,

As I wrote, the acoustic in that room is dry, specially for the students that have to play there :-), the tone in there is extremely poor of overtones, what creat the perception of a full sound, this is why you have that feeling.
If you will have the possibility to try the Tuono you will understand what kind of sound that tuba can produce.
I'm a professional since several years now, and at this point of my career I'll never play an instruments with the features you describe, specially with this tuba that is the result of a collaboration between me and craftsmen at the Melton factory.
The first thing I'm always looking for is the best sound.
What I can suggest to you again, if you'll have the possibility try it, only after that you can really decide what do you think about that horn

I am excited to try one of these tubas expectantly now that I am going to switch from a piston tuba to rotary because of joint pains I have in my fingers.
