Anyone know how I'd go about getting a replacement value for a 1924 BBb Holton Mammoth Helicon? It's a great playing horn that I use for numerous outdoor gigs. I wouldn't count on finding another like it, but I'd like to add a rider for insurance purposes. Anyone in SE Michigan who could write an appraisal?

It might give one an idea of how much an interested party who's looking to scoop up a bargain might be willing to pay for such a horn, but will not necessarily give one an idea of what a truly interested party would be willing to pay if it were offered for sale through a reputable used musical instrument dealer like Dillon or Baltimore Brass, or what the appraised value for insurance purposes would be.

This is really something that should be done by a reputable dealer of Tubas and Sousaphones. Find a dealer near you and have them write you an appraisal. These things need to be in writing.

As to a "value"...?? Seriously, how many of these have sold this year (none...??), and what was the average selling price (moot...??)

Some insurance providers have "agreed value" insurance when both parties agree to the value of the object.

As to sale price, a new Cerveny Bb helicon is about $4500.
