Quintet looking for things to play

Hello guys.

I wanted to ask you whether you know about any good stuff to play for quintet. Quintet is made of 2 trumpets, tenor horn, baritone horn and tuba.

The point is, we are no masters of our instruments, and most of stuff we would possibly be forced to play would be too hard to put together. We are looking for popular music, can be from films or whatever. Because neither of us (well yeah, including teacher, he said he got only too hard stuff there would be no point in trying to play) already knows where to get this from, etc. etc. I wanted to ask you as well.

You know, most of stuff is either
- trumpet playing solo and the rest of ensemble having long notes and doing nothing
- the piece is simply too hard to play
- very old music [yes of course we play old music, but after some time it just isnt fun and we want to play something different, something we can go show to public which is not that enthusiastic to keep listening to Bach (we are actually practicing one of his pieces now) or whoever]
- combination of the above

So if you knew about something modern 5 amateurs can play (I mean play, not count rest bars or hold endless notes to add something to soloist) please let me know. If its written for different instruments of course it is no problem.

PS: bass solos are allowed too :P

Here is a link to a fine piece of arranging by Lennie Niehaus that we like. Just have to watch keys and intonation, but we all enjoy playing it - even if it is not a grade 6. Good test for playing together, too. Bits of tuba melody throughout!

We also add in this one when the concert is a little thin because, although it is easy, people always love this melody. Boring tuba part, though.

I play in three quintets of various degrees of expertise - I will think of more.

I recommend this one. Trombone parts are VERY nice on euph, and I think the horn parts should be playable on tenor horn. You'll enjoy it.
