I may be wrong, but I believe that I heard that Mr. Rusk passed away within the last year?

My apologies if I'm wrong, but I remember listening to someone mention that sometime before the last Midwest band sessionin Chicago.

That's good to hear. My apologies for starting an ugly rumor. It makes me wander if there was another famous builder on the west coast who did pass on within the past year or two.

As lately as in December 2003 I corresponded with a friend of Bob Rusk, who on his behalf hunted repertory for his quartet. So at that point of time Mr. Rusk was very much alive. I would have been told, if anything had happened to him.

So you probably will have to search some telephone registers.

No, I knew about Mr. Marzan, but I am also thinking about another cutter and builder. I usually remember the names, but it doesn't come to me after thinking about it over the weekend.

Maybe you're thinking of Larry Minick, but he passed about 5 years ago.

It was Mr. Minick, and the time frame you mention does sound correct. I had the pleasure to try out one or two of his bass trombone jobs. I appreciate your imput. You know how it is when you are trying to think about a certain fact and you just keep going until it hits.
