Rusk/York F

Does anyone know the size rotor bore used on the little Rusk/York F tubas?
Piston were .656 (off a conn 10j maybe) rotor was in the normal ruck place but was smaller than the pistons. Not much but smaller. Yep Getzen also did make an F prototype after these called the G60. Played that one too. Nice horns but the Kanstul get the sound without the bad pitch.Bob Kolada wrote:The one I've played has a .656 piston bore with the rotary valve right before it (which I believe is the usual setup), so I would be rather surprised to hear that it's something else than .656.
Anyone have a picture of the Getzen F based on them? Was that the G-60?
Interesting that you mention this.Bob Kolada wrote: Anyone have a picture of the Getzen F based on them? Was that the G-60?
Mike Grose owns that horn now. I do not have a picture but imagine a G-50 that was around the size of the small Yamaha F. Same valve block even, just shorter.Tom wrote:Interesting that you mention this.Bob Kolada wrote: Anyone have a picture of the Getzen F based on them? Was that the G-60?
The only Getzen f tuba (G-60) that I know of ended up owned personally by Dave Fedderly. I saw it once, but didn't play it and don't have any photos or specs.
That was years ago, so I don't know if he still has it or not. Maybe someone doing some other business with him could ask about it. I will not inquire and just waste his time, but am curious to know what came of it as I thought that Getzen had a good thing going with their tuba offerings (owned a CB-50).
The one I played has a Conn 5J valve set.bububassboner wrote:I had one as my first. Piston were .656 (off a conn 10j maybe) rotor was in the normal ruck place but was smaller than the pistons.
The above one had super intonation. The only note I noticed that was off was 8th partial F which had to be played something like 52. I don't remember about the notes right below but they may have been fine with conventional fingerings.bububassboner wrote:Nice horns but the Kanstul get the sound without the bad pitch.
I'm pretty sure that both of those threads are the same horn selling twice!Mike-ICR wrote:Here are a couple threads from the For Sale section.
