Going to NAMM on Sunday

Post by wonderbread403 »

I'm going to the NAMM show for the first time on Sunday. I'm excited! I'm not sure if I can take pictures inside the show, but I'll be trying as many tubas as I can with my Marcinkiewicz H2. I'll take notes and then share my thoughts on here after Sunday.

That being said, I'm open to requests. Do you have any particular tubas for me to review and/or take pictures?

I got to check out a few of the displays yesterday, but I didn't see them all. I wound up sending way too much time at the Kanstul booth visiting with everybody. But I did try some of the Jin Boa tubas, they were much improved and played nice. I also tried a couple Jupiter tubas that played fairly nice. At the M-W booth I tried several tubas and I found that the Thor plays really very nice, excellent horn! But during the time spent at the Kanstul booth I played the new CC, both BBb horns and both EEb horns. The new F was always in use so I'll have to go back on Saturday to try one. But ALL of these new Kanstul tubas played absolutely beautifully! Last year I found them to be somewhat inconsistant and I thought only upright valved horns played well. What a difference a year makes. They have worked hard and made huge improvements! In my opinion they are heads above everyone else in their developement efforts and commitment to making world class tubas.

No problem taking photos! Lots of people take photos all over the show. We've taken many hundreds over the years.
