I am not sure what they are called. But I want a rubber ring for my 1st valve tuning slide so then when I push it all they way down I don't get that loud clank of metal hitting metal. Does anyone know where to get these. It is for a Miraphone Petrushka.

Just like a rubber O-ring? I'd say just go to a hardware store, take the slide, and see what fits. Probably cost you less than a dollar. Or, you could probably buy them online easily too, but probably more than you'll ever need in your life.

Try a plumbing supply store. And most town hardware stores carry them.

Home Depot and Lowes have stopped selling O rings and no one else around here sells them. Mine are all about ten years old and need to be replaced. They are now very soft and pop over the slide ferrule quite easily.

What do you have in a .656 now? I thought you sold your Conn?

Wow - I forgot that I started this thread and I am just reading it. OK - I will check to see if any local stores have what I need. If not, maybe I will try what Joe has.

I say go with Bloke-Rings.

For instruments that do not have minimal or no "shoulder" for contact at the outer slide ends, I would recommend the square cross section rings. Certain manufacturers have these in a variety of sizes, but you have to find them, find ones that fit your horn and find a distributor, etc.

For instruments with low profile tuning slide ends (Like a King 2341 or a Conn 5xJ) you will find that the round plumbing or other round cross section rings easily pop up over the outer slide ends when the tuning slide is pushed all the way in. Thicker ferrules or beauty rings on the ends add thickness and keep the round rings from popping over.

Keep your life simple, Bloke already did the leg work.

Doesn’t the mix of rubber and sweat tend to end up in H2SO4?
