Euro Shank MP in Standard (American ) Receiver

Is there anything really wrong with this ? Maybe I gain a half inch in total length . Does it matter more at the front end ?

Biggest change would probably be response. It might become a little less "tight" and it might make the horn speak a little less well. I'm guessing as well that it might have much more of an effect on some tubas than others (especially if it's already mouthpiece-sensitive).

"Gap" is a misnomer since the construction of most tubas doesn't really include such a thing. But the fit can make a large difference in playing on some horns, and none at all on others.

I didn't say it was voodoo... on some horns, the fit actually does make a major difference in intonation and feel. But on others it makes no difference.
Many tubas have what I call a "reverse gap" where the receiver is SMALLER than the leadpipe.
Some have a relatively smooth transition. I really don't know which ones are affected or not affected by the fit of the mouthpiece. I just know that some of my customers report than one shank or the other fixes intonation issues.

Exactly how did you measure the backbore? Can you elaborate on the specifics of how you did this?
Are you measuring the inside diameter of the shank with a set of calipers or are you doing something else?
