The Marshall University Chapter of ITEA sponsored a composition contest named after Dr. Ralph Taylor, an emeritus faculty member at Marshall University who is an avid amateur low brass musician and supporter of the arts in Huntington, West Virginia. The judging panel consisted of Stacy Baker, Professor of Music at Morehead State University, Skip Gray, Professor of Music at the University of Kentucky, Jim Self, Professor of Music at Southern California University, and Tony Zilincik, Professor of Music at Capital University. We are proud to announce that Dan Kramer, a student at Western Michigan University has been named this year’s winner. His composition Adventure for Tuba and Piano will be performed during Low Brass Day at Marshall which will be held on April 16, 2011.
