21K Sousaphone

Post by SousaSaver »

I ran across this strange item in a Conn catalog from 1957.

It listed a Conn 21K Sousaphone. The difference was an upright bell. My initial thought is that it is a typo. Can anyone corroborate this? I will upload a picture of this page tonight.

Has any one seen a late fifties Conn 20K with an upright "raincatcher" bell?

If it is real than it is ULTRA rare, but I suspect that it is just a typo. Anybody know?

The Conn Loyalist does list a 21K as a raincatcher made from 1958-1962. No pix, however.

Does anyone know what upright bell would fit a Conn 14K (or 36K/32K) sousaphone?

I've heard rumors that a 10J bell would fit, but the only tuba I've seen listed as a 10J was a fixed upright bell horn.

If anyone has such a bell laying around, I'm interested...
